Update: On May 13, 2019, U.S. District Judge George Hazel sided with federal prosecutors and reversed a magistrate judge’s order to release would-be mass shooter Christopher Hasson while he awaits trial on gun and drug charges. U.S. Attorney Robert Hur continues to refuse to bring felony terrorism charges in the case.
A Coast Guard officer who stockpiled firearms and compiled a hit list congressional Democrats and TV journalists is seeking release from federal custody because prosecutors have yet to charge him with any terrorism-related offenses. This is despite the fact that prosecutors labeled Christopher Hasson a “domestic terrorist” who “intends to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country” in court filings.
In February 2019, Hasson was indicted on charges of unlawful possession of silencers, possession of a controlled substance (tramadol), and possession of firearms (17 in all) by a substance abuser. At that time, the magistrate judge ordered Hasson detained but said he would revisit that decision if prosecutors didn’t bring more serious charges.
Hasson has advocated for “focused violence” to create a “white homeland.” He was stockpiling weapons and supplies per the manifesto of Norwegian mass shooter Anders Breivik, who killed 77 people in 2011. Many of the people on Hasson’s hit list are high-profile critics of fascist President Donald Trump.

This is absolutely outrageous and makes me deeply concerned for the well-being of residents in Silver Spring, Maryland where Hasson lives. Bring terrorism-related charges against Hasson IMMEDIATELY for his plot to kill congressional Democrats, journalists, and other high-profile critics of fascist President Donald Trump. You have a moral duty to do so! It was YOUR prosecutors who described Hasson as a “domestic terrorist” and indicated he “intends to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country.” I am so sick and tired of seeing prosecutors coddle white male terrorists who threaten and harm Americans. DO YOUR JOB and charge Christopher Hasson with terrorism!
